On September 12 local time, Wu Shicun, Chairman of the Huayang Center and Chairman of the Academic Committee of NISCSS, attended the roundtable seminar titled "Prospects and Challenges for China-Nordic Relations in a Changing Global Order: A Sino-Swedish Expert Dialogue" held in Stockholm, Sweden. The event was hosted by the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) and chaired by Dr. Niklas Swanström, Director of ISDP. Wu Shicun delivered key remarks on several topics, including the development and evolution of the South China Sea situation, the South China Sea policy under the Trump administration, prospects for the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea (COC) consultations, the current state and future trajectory of cross-Strait relations, the establishment of institutionalized Track II platforms between China and Europe, and areas of cooperation between China and Nordic countries such as the green economy, marine environmental protection, public health, and people-to-people exchanges. Nearly 20 experts and scholars from think tanks and research institutions including the Huayang Center, Institute for China-Europe Studies (ICES), ISDP, the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) participated in the roundtable discussion.

ISDP, established in 2007, is a Swedish academic institution dedicated to research on international and regional security and foreign policy, with a particular focus on issues related to conflict, security, development, and their interlinkages. Its current director, Dr. Niklas Swanström, is a well-known European expert in international affairs, whose research covers conflict prevention, conflict management, regional cooperation, and China's foreign policy.

On the same day, Wu Shicun also paid a visit to Cui Aimin, the Chinese Ambassador to Sweden. The two exchanged views on China-Sweden relations, China-EU relations, the situation in the South China Sea, the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, and China-Sweden economic and trade cooperation.

Yang Li, Executive Director of the ICES, and Xu Xiaodong, Executive Vice Chairman of the Huayang Center, also participated in the roundtable.
